What is the success rate of McDonald's franchises?

I am doing a project and need to know the success rate of McDonald's franchises. I can't seem to find any info on this anywhere.

1. That information is not published anywhere. McDonald's Corporation surely has some internal studies but they don't disclose them, not even to their own franchisees. How do you define success? A certain level of profit to the franchisee? Surviving the full term of the franchise? I do work with 100s of MCD franchisee in the USA and according to information I've collected 3 out of 4 locations make a profit but that's anecdotal and not verifiable. adams@fegroup.com
