Music Production School Knowledge Base
Is any prior music knowledge needed to go to production school? I want to go to the LA Film School for music production. I got a $20,000 scholarship and use $9,000 to pay off the loans that I owe for the graphic design degree I am getting in June. I dont want the $11,000 to go to waste so I want to use it for education or I have to return the money. Please help. Thanks!

Which music production school should I choose? I'm down to two schools: Drexel University and Middle Tennessee State University. (Mainly these two schools because you don't have to audition.) I've been doing a little bit of research on schools like Full Sail and Los Angeles Recording School, and they both look prettyimpressivee and say they have career placement programs for after you graduate. Music Production!?!?!?!? I was suppose to go to college to become a pilot and the loan fell through the day before I was suppose to go. I have had time to figure out what I really want to do. Music has always been my passion, and my goal is to become a music producer! No one that I have told approves of this, especially my parents they think its a joke, but i know i can do it and im ready to prove everyone wrong. I have a computer, electric guitar, and have alot of knowledge about music. I dont know where to go from here. I was thinking of doing one of the following schools but im not sure if thats the best option. Best music production school? Two things! :) 1) What is the best school for music production, worldwide (in your opinion)? 2) I would like to produce music in Japan. Do you think people who run the big music labels (Avex, Universal Music, EMI, etc.) would prefer me to go to a music production school in Japan? I personally think that they would find it different, interesting and cool if I went to a school in, say, Los Angeles. It's okay if you can't answer number two :D

Academically strong schools with good music production programs? I have good grades at a 'little ivy' but want to transfer because I want to be a music production major. My school doesn't offer much and is in the middle of nowhere. I want to transfer to a school with great opportunities in this field along with strong academics. I have been thinking about Berklee School of Music but the academics aren't very good. Any suggestions on a school or how I could go about finding one would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to transfer to a school in the northeast (New England, NY, Pennsylvania, etc.) with a good music production/recording arts program that is not a strictly music school (so, not Berkeley). The school I am at now does not offer this major, or any classes related to the field, and I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

any good music school for study music production and performance in UK? i'm a malaysian who are currently teaching and performing in malaysia. but i'm looking forward to further my studies in UK maybe in 2008. Can i study music production at uni without any prior experience? I really like music and i think music production is something i might enjoy but i have never done anything like that i dont even do senior music at school I play drums and bass guitar (mediocrely) would it be way too hard to try and do a music production course/degree at uni? What degree would anyone recommend taking, mainly to go into work under a label, but I want to keep my options open. How necessary is a music production degree to work in that field? I'm majoring accounting because I could not find everything I wanted with schools with music production majors. How essential is a degree to work in that field? I do some recording on my own and read up on the field, and I'm pretty sure I'd like to work with sound in some capacity as my career.

What school for music production? Ok, i live in dallas texas, and i really love to do music. I want to go to school for music. Not like music theory and jazz studies and stuff like that, but i want to go into the more technical side, more like recording, producing, and more of the business aspect. Ive been looking at schools, and most traditional universities music majors are more like classical stuff and more of a history of music. I really want to go to UNT because its close, but a school like full sail university in florida really seems to fit what i want to do. But i really want to stay in texas. Do yall know of any schools in texas like Full Sail, or should i just go to florida?
Would i be able to support a family,by opening up a music school? Is this a recession proof career? I want to teach only piano and electronic music production. I have a BA degree in elementary education but cant find a music position in the school system. They cut alot of those art programs. If i get married and have a family , would i be able to make good money if i put a music school in my garage of my home and taught people piano lessons. What is a good school for the area of Music Production? I want to be a Music Producer, Engineer, whatever. There are so many terms for it. I just want to be the guy running a recording studio (mostly for metal) and interacting with muscians, sitting behind a giant mixer, and getting the best recording recording form them. I want to get into music production? I'm finishing high school this year and next, i want to go to college. I've studied piano for 11-12 years and i really love music. i love all types of music and I'd love to work with music. I want to go to a college of arts or an art institute...or something like that where i can put in play my talent and do something in the music industry. it doesn't have to be piano.....just anything to do with music production.
