Do the service academies, for the CFA or the test that cadets take every semester, test your flexibility? I am not very flexible; I can barely touch my toes. I am athletic but not flexible, so I'm wondering if they test flexibility. I saw a couple videos of them measuring them stretching, but I can't find anything about it online.

How to improve flexibility for a sit and reach test? I'm doing a summer water aerobics class, and back at the beginning of the session (five weeks ago), I was measured and hit only a 12! Our test is this coming Tuesday (goal is to hit at least an 18), and I hope with the amount of exercise I've been doing lately that I've improved, however is there anything I can do over the next few days to guarantee an 18 hit?

How will increasing my flexibility help in basketball? I have been known to be a strong and athletic basketball player. Looking at all my fitness tests, I killed all of them except for the flexibility test. I got an average score; 41-42 cm reach. I used to be able to dunk but I can't anymore. I know increasing my flexibility will help in jumping but what else will it do for me in basketball?
How can I drastically improve my flexibility? I'm trying to improve both my arm and leg flexibility because I got a flexibility test coming up soon and my flexibility is awful, I can't touch my feet with my hands without bending my knees.
Why is flexibility important to physical fitness? I am a very good athlete, and recently took the Presidential Challenge. I passed Presidential (better than 85%) with ease on every single test and finally took the flexibility test. I didn't even get the National level (better than 50%) on that. I'm clearly pretty angry because now I can't get any kind of award. My question is, why is flexibility important? What does it have to do with my overall physical fitness, because I play sports year round and it never seems to interfere. Also, how can I become more flexible? I'm only a few centimeters off.
How do I make sure that I will pass the sit-in reach test in gym class? We are taking the fitness test this semester, and I would like to win an award. The only category I am unsure of is the flexibility test, the sit in reach as most people know it. A girl my age must get 36 inches to get the award. I am kind of flexible already but I want to be sure. How do I improve my flexibility? Any help is greatly appreciated (: Thanks so much!

Why is the "STEP TEST" a good indicator of ones fitness? The step test is basically a test designed to measure one's cardiovascular endurance. You pretty much step up and down two staires in a matter of 3 minutes. I'm just wondering, why is this test considered a better indicator of one's fitness compared to tests such as the flexibility test, abdominal strength test, resting heart rate test, body composition test or the strength endurance test?

What is a daily stretch routine that will increase leg flexibility? I currently have a terrible (single digit) sit-and-reach stretch. In 6-8 months I have to take a fitness test and the sit-and-reach is 1/4th of the test and I must pass it. I'm in excellent physical condition other than the total lack of flexibility. I need a 15 in. stretch or so. What are some daily stretching routines that would help to increase my sit-and-reach?
How can I learn to touch my toes? This is a very embarrassing question to ask. I'm very athletic but not very flexible, and my gym class is just doing this flexibility test in two or three days. I really can't bend too far, unlike my friends who are pretzels. Is there any tips on how I can strech farther? On my last test a couple days ago, I could only reach four inches above my feet (or -4), which is not as far at all. Any way to become flexible quickly? Thank you! I believe it's because of my genetics. None of my family is too flexible, so yeah. I used to be very flexible when I was around toddler age though.

why do scientists think introns and exons contribute to evolutionary flexibility? and what kind of cells do mutations occur? This two questions are gonna be on my test, and I have no idea what the answers are.
What do you know about the sit and reach test? Hi. I am completly dumbfounded and downtrodden. Today we took a sit and reach flexibility test and push ups test. I got the highest in the class (for girls) in the pushups area. But the lowest on the sit and reach. I am really upset. I got 8 inches! And I am thirteen. AS a girl, I have to get at least 10 inches. I am also very short. I'd say 53 inches. And I am a gymnast! (I just began my growthspurt.)I researched the sit and reach test and here is what it said that my teacher did not do: take off our shoes, warm up, try three times before the test, and hold for two seconds. I thought this was the case but then again, everyone else did well, and they had the same conditions. After class, I asked if I could retake it. The teacher said sure, I did it again for my second time without warm-ups and I got a nine, She told me to try again, and she said you are barely on ten. I'm really upset and If someone could give me some info. or research about why my test was misleading, or i'm not fit, i'd be gladly giving ten points. Thanks alot for your help.
What does a body fat test involve? They're doing a free health check at the gym later, they're going to give us our height, weight, flexibility and body fat and a few other things. Apparently the bodyfat check will be using I think the pinchers.. anyway what does it consist of and will I have to remove my shirt? I'm already fat though. Yeah good point about them doing it because there's something in it for them, hmm. It's a budget gym for starters so why would they do a free health check? I'm already quite heavy.
How do I increase my flexibility? I can BARELY reach my ankle. or toes. help!! additional details: I am 13 yrs old and In our fitness class, our teacher gave us a SEAT AND REACH TEST, I can only reach 50cm, while my classmates 70cm, 80cm...etc. I really need to be more flexible.
Can you become more flexible in the same way you can get more muscular? I am departing for the navy boot camp in a few months, I have been training before I leave and I know that right now I can meet most of the requirements, however recently i learned that they had a sit and reach test that you had to pass. I am know that I am not flexible at all, and I was wondering if doing stretches daily, just like working out, would make me overall more flexible. It would be a shame if I didnt meet the requirements just because of the flexibility test...
Flexibility? I am not obise or over weight at all I am just not very flexible at all! I need to get more flexible for school because we have flexibility tests in gym and I need to get more flexible. Does anyone have any tips on how to get more flexible faster?
why is flexibility such a turn on for guys? i am extremely flexible and i was in gym about to take a felxibility test so i did a split and was doing other flexible stuff. i was talking to a guy later on in the year and he was still talking about it to me and he was obviously pleased with the event.... oh and all the guys were asking me to do it again . why is this such a turn on for guys?
How to become more flexible? So i took a flexibility test in school the other day and the lowest number for being in the "healthy zone" was 12 and I only got 10! My legs are super long compared to my torso. (I've been told by many)I am also a distance runner. So i "used" to stretch regularly but not anymore because i didn't do winter track. So any ideal stretches for stretching out everything to become more flexible or maybe an ideal guideline for someone who is not very flexible and is pretty busy during the week. Thanks Everyone!
How to prepare for a ballet audition? I'm going to an audition (For very beginners) at Manhattan youth ballet (Don't know if any ones heard of it) but I'm really nervous. What do they ask you to do? I need to do better on the sit-and-reach physical test? I am training to become a police officer in Baltimore and need to get one more inch on the sit and reach. How can i increase my flexibility to do this?
What are the independent and dependent variables from this abstract? The relationships among primary process thinking, divergent thinking, and coping were investigated in fifth-grade children. Specifically, it was hypothesized from psychodynamic theory that access to and integration of primary process thinking would be positively related to divergent thinking and that both integration of primary process and divergent thinking would be predictive of coping ability. The Rorschach (Holt's scoring system) and Alternate Uses Test (spontaneous flexibility score) were administered to 53 fifth-grade children. Zeitlin's Coping Inventory, a teacher's rating scale, was the coping measure. Results confirmed the hypotheses for boys in that the percentage of primary process and the Adaptive Regression score on the Rorschach were significantly related to divergent thinking, r(27) = .33, p < .05 and r(27) = .34, p < .05, respectively. Divergent thinking was significantly related to teachers' ratings of coping ability for boys, r(27) = .58, p < .01. There were no significant relationships among the variables for girls. These sex differences in the pattern of correlations are consistent with previous findings
How do you rest your muscles? :S :O? SOoOo yesterday at school we did these push-ups and sit-ups and flexibility tests and stuff and now I can't move my arms and I when I laugh hard, my tummy hurts lol :O How do you rest'em or at least what do u do? Thanks:)

First PE class after a long, lazy summer...constant sprinting, then testing our flexibility, and then more sprinting [and a fitness test next week!]...my muscles are paying for it...Every part of my body hurts so much...[it's not just me though, my friend in my class can barely move too]...what can I do?
Why do we use fitness tests in sport? tests like the beep test, the illinois agility test and the flexibility sit and reach test? can someone explain to me why we use/do them? thanks!
How to eat when maintaining muscle and slimming down on abdominal? So couple weeks ago, my bodyfat, bench press (260) , weight, cardiovascular, and flexibility were tested at my college (i'm 19). Right now i'm at 10.7% bodyfat at 180lbs (8mm, 16mm, 14mm folds). I don't have 6-pack abs (just a flat stomach) and I want to get them. I know everyone is different genetically but at what bf should I expect to show some abs? 8-9%? My goal right now is to get to 9% bf, which means I have to lose 4 pounds of FAT. I want to retain my muscles and I know I have to lift heavy and hard with mostly compound movements. But I need some clarification in terms of eating. I know that in order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you eat a day. But at the same time, I want to keep the muscles I have (or at most miminal losses) and show some 6-pack abs. So would it be recommended that I still eat high in calories (but without much Fat/Saturated FAT, cleaner than my usual diet) and still do cardio Or is it just impossible to maintain?
Im in boxing and I need some advise? Ok I am in boxing and I am gaining a lot of strength but my only problem is that I am not really flexible well my question is how can I become Little more flexible so I could pass my flexibility test in school but still be built well please help me ut thank you.
How to increase flexibility? I'm a 16 year old guy and I am really inflexible. I run a lot for sports (cross country, track) and when you run a lot you get kinda inflexible (especially in the legs) and for gym class we started to do fitness testing and when we got to the V-sit I couldn't even reach my feet! So I was wondering if there was any way I could increase my flexibility somehow. I'm also kinda tall at 5'11"
What are my independent and dependent variables in this situation? I am testing the affect of increased flexibility on the muscle-tendon unit's ability to function. All subjects will be given the same physical test at the beginning of the experiment. Then, half of the subjects will be given stretching and flexibility exercises to do for 3 weeks, while the others will be asked not to stretch at all. Then at the end they will be given the same test. What are my dependent and independent variables?
I just had a body fat test, as well as an overall fitness test and I'm a little confused? I am 5'3" 162lbs, and I'm a 27 year old female. According to BMI I am borderline obese, an online test said I should weigh about 120lbs. I went in for a microfit test today at our gym. They used a skin fold test, tested my blood pressure and heart rate, tested bicep strength, back flexibility and aerobic fitness. My BP was 118/81 (a little elevated for me, but no biggie) and was scored as excellent. Resting heart rate was 71/excellent. Skin fold (body fat percentage) was 27.6, which was rated as fair. I had 54inch reach in back flexibility which scored excellent. Bicep strength was 70lbs and was rated excellent. My aerobic fitness was questionable, since I'm on medication that causes my heart rate to fluctuate, and before I even got on the machine my heart rate slowly went up to 101 beats per minute, and during the test my heart rate went up to 145bpm with little effort (stationary biking at about 50 revolutions per minute) and I scored "needs improvement" on that. She said other than my aerobic and body fat percentage I had great physical fitness, although she said my body fat percentage still fell into an acceptable range. She put my "healthy weight" at 135. So I'm confused, does body mass matter more, or does body fat and overall fitness? Am I in bad shape or decent? I carry most of my fat on my hips, thighs, upper arms and chest (boobs) Also, I know I'm overweight, that's obvious when I look in the mirror. But is the overal fitness level ok, and how does it compare to BMI?
Would this be a good science fair project idea? Im thinking of testing the flexibility of a cookie and see which cookie has the most flexibility and the least. I would make a chocolate chip cookie made with butter, another batch made with margarine, and the last batch made with shortening. Then after that, I would take a protractor and bend the cookie until its breaking point, then measure the angle. Does that make sense? Or should I think of something else?
Can muscle tone be inherited? I have a 6 month old baby who has some slight stiffness in his legs. He went to pt for 2 sessions, but I was told it was very mild and shouldn't be a big deal as he is reaching all his milestones. Well I was also told it can be inherited. So I just took a flexibility test and I scored a 4, which apparently below 12 is considered poor. I was told that was one of the worst scores they had ever seen. I always knew I wasn't flexible as I remember that from the physical fitness tests in high school.
I'm a beginner in excerising, how do I start? I want to be ready for my fitness test(s) when P.E and Health switch out. We have to: -run the 1-mile -do push ups -sit ups -pacer (to test endurance) -arm hang -flexibility I'm weak and out of shape for a 13 almost 14 year old. What do I do? I don't want to be another statistic in our countries obesity, especially in us kids. Help!!

Who can do this Fitness test? I'm participating in a class at my gym and we are doing a range of motion project concentrating on hamstring flexibility. Lay on your back and raise one leg in the air keeping the other leg flat on the floor. Make sure your raised leg is straight as possible. After a few seconds of stretching, is your raised leg 90 degrees or more from the ground? If so, you're considered to have good range of motion. If not, then a stretching program is recommended. I'm interested to find out how many people can actually do this? I couldn't...I suck!!
What is a 'fitness test' and how is it conducted? Im 18 and I have signed up for a fitness test next week. What happens in a fitness test? How do they measure my body fat % and flexibility and strength?
Can someone answer this about MEPS? Can someone please explain the MEPS flexibility tests. I had knee surgery in 2006. My knee is 110% but sometimes it gets a little stiff. Former or current MEPS personnel explanation would be great. Recent applicants to the military are welcome as well.
What are some scientific tests to see where my weaknesses are as an athlete? Like if I wanted to improve my vertical or sprinting speed what kind of tests can show me if I need more max strength, flexibility, plyometric ability or rate of force? I mean real scientific tests that are decently accurate and don't require me buying equipment.

Probation Officer: what tests and exams will i have to pass? I'm currently an undergraduate in criminal justice and looking for a future career. Probation work seems appealing. I was wondering what tests and exams I will have to pass... also, what other hoops do I have to jump through? Will I need to pass the same physical exam as police officers do (bench, situps, flexibility, 1.5 mil run)? any other information would really help me. thanks!
Can I obtain a minor in a different university? I am currently an undergraduate freshman at a particular university. Unfortunately, my major doesn't provide much flexibility and therefore it is very difficult to obtain a minor. Additionally, my school does not accept transfer credit other than AP tests, etc. I would like to minor in business, preferably by taking classes in a school near my hometown over the summer. Would this be possible?
How hard is it to become an Air Force pilot? I'm a college graduate with 20/20 vision but no previous piloting experience whatsoever. I'm not sure how the Air Force operates, if you join to become a pilot and pass the tests do you get to fly or is there a waiting list for planes? My other question is how much flexibility is there in choosing what you want to fly for. I went to film school as an undergrad and found the lessons about high altitude survelliance cameras pretty fascinating and might want to do that. Finally, what is your obligation once you join? I want to serve my country but I might want to re-enter civilian life at some point. Do you have to serve for four years? And if you leave after serving this obligation can you return to the AF at a later date?
How can I improve my overall fitness? If I wish to improve my results for next years school fitness tests in february. It requires improving endurance, speed, strength, flexibility, power. How much work out do I need to? keep my speed, flexibility, and stamina? I've been working out and train for my Muay Thai fight twice a day. People are already asking me how do I get bigger so fast. I've already went from 130 to 134 lbs in a week. I have no idea how much more I'll gain. However I'm kinda afaird I'll lose my stamina, flexibility, and speed. I already do 15 mins run on hill a day, swim15 laps as fast as I could (very hard on me since I'm not a experienced swimmer), rope jumping 2 time a day 10 mins each session, and two roughly 10 to 30 mins of intense pads working. Is there any way to test my stamina to see if it's not as good as before or not? Also how do I know if I'm doing enough work out to stay at the level I use to be? Thank in advance for all help. btw I do cardio (running and swimming) and stretching 5 or 6 days a week.
what happens at MEPS for females? explaination. like do they make you do pushups and stuff like that or just the duckwalk and flexibility tests? do they touch you at all down there or just look?
What's the best way to prepare for the 7th grade fitness test.? Our fitness test will be in 2 weeks. I've exersized before and I'm in shape. I have good endurance, but I'm horrible at push ups and I get side aches immediatley during the mile. I have at least three water bottles a day. I am drinking the right amount. We'll be doing the mile, push ups, curl ups, sit and reach, and the skin fold test. What can I do to help my flexibility also? How do I get better at push ups. I can keep asking lol. Any advice on that would be greaet.
How long will it take to pass my urine drug test for weed? (specific info provided)? First of all, if all you have to say is "don't smoke idiot" then don't bother cause I really don't care. I have done my research and it's my choice, I am just looking for someone with some experience to help me out. I have to take a drug test for a job (urine) and I have some flexibility in how long I have before I take it. I started smoking a few months ago, and was doing it about 3 days per week. Then I had to take a drug test (for a diff job) so I did not smoke for 3 weeks and a couple days (23 days) and PASSED without doing anything special. Once I passed that test, I was told I had the job so I proceeded to smoke 5 days in a row (gotta celebrate... not to mention 4/20 was yesterday...). I smoked probably the equivalent of one or two joints each of the 5 days - yesterday was my last day. Then today I get a call from the company saying they need someone who can start sooner (this is a summer job - I'm a student at Virginia Tech) so now I am going to take a diff job that also requires a drug test sometime in the next month. I am 5'9 and 135 pounds, slim, exercise a few days each week. All in all, how long will it take me to be clean given I didn't smoke for 23 days, was naturally clean, then smoked for 5 days straight? I am willing to try detox if anyone has had any personal luck with them. And I definitely plan on exercising as much as possible. Thanks!!
Ways to stay motivated when trying to do the splits? started stretching 2 weeks ago to try and do the splits... almost did the front splits after a week, but after a few days i stopped stretching because i had to cram from a test. i didnt stretch for 3 days straight! stretched the next day (yesterday), but didnt today. im dreading stretching tomorrow. its painful and when i get more flexible.. the next day i go back to normal and have to stretch again to reach the same level of flexibility as the day before. how do i stay motivated? i dont need to be flexible for anything... dont take ballet or any other dance classes that requires me to be flexible. i just think it would be fun to, and ive always wanted to do the splits.. and back bends etc
12 minute run and fitness tips? For fitness i have a 12 minute run, long jump. flexibility test, grip test, and sit up and push up tests. I have it in just over 2 weeks. Im a 1 yr old female. advice? sorry im 17 years old*** I am also figure skate 7 times a week
In a research experiment, what would be the name of the 'group' that you are comparing to? If you are researching the results of a say vertical jump in volleyball players. You test one group doing aquatic exercises to see if it improves their jump and you compare it to a group doing flexibility training, what is the scientific name for the flexibility 'group'?
How can I improve my flexibility? I am in yr 7 and I am one of the least flexible girls in my class. I don't know why because I am really sporty and I dance, but i am really unflexible. It is really embarrassing.. because everyone expects me to be like really flexy. When we had to do a stretch test with the box at the end of your feet I got the lowest score out of the girls i my whole class (-10) which is even a low score for boys. I can't even touch my toes when i am standing up or put my head on my legs. Whenever I dance sometimes I feel really out of place because I cant do a lot of the stretches the other girls can do really well. I am also quite a good runner and I think that tightness of muscles may be linked but I dont really know. But my question is: How can I improve my flexibility effectively?
